Wolverhampton Wanderers are keeping close tabs on PSV winger Noni Madueke.

What's the word?

That is according to a report from 90min who claim that the Old Gold are among a quintet of Premier League rivals who are tracking the Englishman.

As per the report, the quintet features the likes of Leicester City, Leeds United, Newcastle United, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur who are beside Wolves in the picture to sign the 21-year-old.

It is said that Madueke signed a long-term contract with PSV at the end of 2021, but it is understood that the Eredivisie side face a battle to hang onto him going forward.

A "hot knife through butter"

Quite simply, in Madueke, we could be looking at the ultimate replacement for the departing Francisco Trincao.

Operating as a left-footed player on the right wing, he would offer Lage an inverted option just like the Portuguese winger did.

Though, Madueke can offer a glimpse of further directness on the wing and has earned plaudits for his ability to cut through the opposition defence "like a hot knife through butter".

The £16.2m-rated trickster is of the same ilk as a certain Adama Traore, with his average of 4.8 successful dribbles per game a promising sign of natural ability from the 20-year-old.

The England U21 star also places top amongst the PSV squad for his 2.0 shots on target per 90, which is actually a league-topping stat that only teammate Eran Zahavi can match.

For this reason, you would expect the Tottenham youth graduate to have compiled more than three goals and three assists in 18 matches.

But the signs are indeed there with Madueke, who managed 11 goal returns in 24 Eredivisie appearances in the form of seven goals and four assists just the season prior in what his breakout campaign.

It's an exciting signing for any of the aforementioned teams, though Wolves could most certainly make use of his directness.
