Wolves could find dream Gibbs-White heir in Kudus

Wolves could reportedly bring in Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus this summer and the Ghanaian can be a dream heir to Morgan Gibbs-White in Bruno Lage’s side.

What’s the word?

According to Ghana Soccernet in recent days, Wolves have joined the race to sign the 22-year-old, who is also attracting interest from Everton as he seeks regular first-team football away from Ajax in the build-up to the Qatar World Cup.

In a recent interview with GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones shared his thoughts on a potential Wolves move for Kudus.

He said: “He’s one of the more intriguing players that I think can be signed and I can’t believe more clubs aren’t in talks over this if he is genuinely gettable.

“He’s part of an Ajax side that I thought he would have a bigger role in, to be honest. He’ll want a certain style of club if he is going to leave.

“I’m told that Wolves would be of interest to him. I don’t think Ajax are looking to offload him particularly, but if he were to leave, then I can see Wolves being one that he would be open to.”

Gibbs-White replacement

Wolves sold Gibbs-White to Nottingham Forest earlier this month in an eye-watering deal, which paved the way for Matheus Nunes to join Wolves in a club-record transfer.

However, Lage could still use some more depth in the middle of the park and could add some real creative and attacking quality in Kudus.

The young midfielder, who has been dubbed “special” by journalist Owuraku Ampofo, contributed 14 goals and three assists in his time with FC Nordsjaelland before his move to Ajax, where he has hit six goals and four assists in 47 appearances for the Eredivisie champions.

WhoScored claims that Kudus’ strengths include passing, dribbling, long shots, playing key passes and tackling, several of which are shared by Gibbs-White, which suggests that he could be an excellent heir to the Englishman at Molineux.

Although Lage has a lot of quality in his midfield with Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho and Nunes, none are particularly mobile or pacey, which Kudus could definitely add.

Can you guess which Wolves player scored the most goals in all competitions during the season in question? Let's start with 2010/11...

The new Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder praised the Ghana international earlier this season, saying:

“He plays on intuition, which makes him very difficult for opponents to defend. He is strong, fast and agile. good impression.”

Indeed, with Gibbs-White possessing similarly agile feet, it demonstrates just how alike the pair are when it comes to progressing the ball and fending off defenders.

Therefore, Kudus could definitely add something different to Lage’s midfield, and if he arrives on a loan deal, he could be a bargain replacement for Gibbs-White at Molineux.
