Wolverhampton Wanderers are plotting a bid to sign Burnley right-back Connor Roberts this summer.

What's the word?

That is according to a report by The Sun (via Birmingham Live), who claim that Lage is ready to offer the Welshman an instant ticket back to England's top-flight.

As per the report, Wolves are keen to sign a replacement for Ki Jana-Hoever after the defender departed for a loan spell to Eredivisie outfit PSV Eindhoven.

With Hoever's omission from the squad, Nelson Semedo - who is currently still carrying a hamstring injury - needs both cover and competition for the right-back position.

The same report states that Roberts wants to stay in the Premier League after suffering relegation with Burnley.

"Runs himself into the ground"

As acknowledged by Wales manager Rob Page, Roberts is one of the players who "run themselves into the ground" against Belgium a couple of weeks ago.

It is no wonder why Lage is keen on signing the 26-year-old. During three full Championship seasons with Swansea, the Wales international asserted himself as a threat from deep, scoring 11 goals in three full seasons.

Consequently, he's capable of a "brilliant finish" having secured this acknowledgement from Squawka with a finish on his weaker foot.

In his final Championship season, Roberts notched up 12 attacking returns in the form of five goals and seven assists in 48 appearances for the Swans, before departing for Burnley where he chipped in with a goal and an assist in 21 appearances last term.

Roberts is a player who has the 'end product' attribute firmly in his locker and would bolster Wolves' attacking threat from the full-back position, with Semedo managing just two goals and a solitary assist throughout two Premier League campaigns with Wolves, amidst no sign of further progress in that department.

Roberts can offer Lage a more aggressive style at full-back, so this would be a brilliant move for both parties.
