Wolves should revive interest in Goncalo Ramos

Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially entered a new era, with Julen Lopetegui taking over from interim manager Steve Davis yesterday.

The Old Gold find themselves rooted at the bottom of the Premier League table following a woeful start to the season which has seen them win just two league matches all campaign.

Should Wolves move for Goncalo Ramos?

The 56-year-old faces a difficult task in order to keep the Molineux outfit in the top flight, but he will certainly use all of his managerial nous in order to give them a boost after Christmas.

Thoughts now turn to the January transfer window and this Wolves side could do with some rejuvenation, especially in their attacking department.

Lopetegui could land a perfect first signing by reviving a move for Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos, and it would surely prove to be a popular choice.

The Portuguese hitman was linked during the summer, with an asking price of £30m set by Benfica, however, a move didn’t materialise under former boss Bruno Lage.

The striker has been a sensation already this season, scoring 14 times in 21 matches, and could be an important asset for Wolves should they go back for him in January.

During the course of his managerial career, Lopetegui’s sides have scored 1.9 goals per match on average, and Ramos would surely thrive under his leadership.

Football Talent Scout creator Jacek Kulig has hailed Ramos for his “outrageous numbers” previously and the Old Gold are crying out for someone with his talent in the penalty box.

Which club did Wolves loan Willian Jose from in the 2021 January transfer window?

Only six goals have been scored by Wolves attackers this season and this is arguably the main reason they are stuck in a relegation battle.

Of course, injury problems haven’t helped, with Raul Jimenez and Sasa Kalajdzic missing the majority of the season already, while left winger Pedro Neto will be out until after Christmas.

The Molineux faithful will be desperate for the transfer window to arrive so the Spaniard can really get to work and assert his own stamp on the team. Making Ramos his first signing might well be the perfect start for the newly appointed manager.
