Wolverhampton Wanderers could be in line for a busy end to the transfer window, with further additions having been mooted.

What's the word?

According to transfer insider Dean Jones - who was speaking to GIVEMESPORT - the Old Gold will likely be looking to bring in a new centre-forward before the September deadline, having already signed Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes for a club-record fee in recent days.

He stated: “Undoubtedly, they’ve got to get a striker in. This has to happen; it is a case of urgency for Wolves. They’re still a good side, they’re just lacking that cutting edge in the final third. And I think that is something that they will look to fix before the next game.”

The Molineux outfit have already secured the signing of Valencia's Goncalo Guedes - following on from the permanent capture of loanee Hwang Hee-chan - although neither of those is an out-and-out centre-forward.

Lage must act quickly

While it would appear unlikely that a new number nine will arrive before Saturday's clash away to Tottenham Hotspur, Wolves manager Bruno Lage will likely be praying that he can at least secure a new striker before the transfer window slams shut, with the top end of the pitch having been a real issue in his tenure thus far.

Last season saw the Old Gold score just 38 goals in the entire Premier League campaign - the fourth-worst record in the division - with the club's top scorer Raul Jimenez providing a meagre tally of six goals in all competitions.

With the Mexican currently sidelined with injury, the need for a new frontman has only been heightened even further, with the club currently left without a recognised centre-forward following Fabio Silva's departure to Anderlecht on loan.

With transfer deadline day now firmly on the horizon, Lage and co will have to act swiftly if they are to get a new face through the door, albeit with there likely to be trepidation at making a potential wrong move, such is their apparent desperation for a new addition.

One name who has emerged as a possible solution is Benfica starlet Goncalo Ramos, with the Old Gold said to have made an offer for the 21-year-old already this summer.

A player clearly in Wolves' thoughts, the Portuguese gem is also attracting interest from Southampton, but it won't be an easy race to land a player who has already netted four goals in as many games this season.

Should Wolves settle on the promising youngster - or another attacking alternative - they will no doubt need to act quickly to get a deal done, as the end of the transfer window is fast approaching...
