Argentina join Germany in the World Cup final

Argentina kept their World Cup dreams alive as they saw off 4-2 on penalties. The game failed to live up to the standard set following the German goalfest the night before, and finished 0-0 after 120 minutes.

Maxi Rodriguez was the hero as he rocketed in following Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Ezequiel Garay flawless kicks.

Neither side looked prepared to take any undue risks in the 90 minutes which limited the amount of clear goalscoring opportunities.

In a game dominated by middle battles, neither Lionel Messi nor Arjen Robben were able to impact the game in the manner expected.

The first significant chance of the night came late in the second half as Gonzalo Higuain fired the ball into the side-netting, before Javier Mascherano’s last-ditch challenge saved a certain Arjen Robben goal in added time.

After a grueling two hours of football, X have set up a mouth-watering tie against Germany in the final next Sunday.
