Germany win World Cup, but who’s victorious in the boots battle?

Mario Gotze is the man on the back pages today across the globe, with the German midfielder having fired in an extra-time goal to hand his nation the biggest trophy the beautiful game has to offer.

His name will go down in history, as will Lionel Messi who scooped the golden ball award, but what about the tools of their trade? Which set of boots did all of the work on the Brazilian turf?

This awesome graphic by @T0mmasaurus breaks down the models of boots and brands into a bite-size graphic to see which came out on top in terms of goals, assists, own goals and even red cards!

Nike and Adidas dominate the way, but Gotze’s footwear didn’t quite come out on top in this competition! Before we leave, let’s take some time to mention Umbro, whose boots only managed one assist in the last month!
