Revealed: 46% of England fans want Lingard to be ditched for Loftus-Cheek

The core of Gareth Southgate’s England side has been well in place for a while, after he trialed the use of Dele Alli, Jesse Lingard and Raheem Sterling behind Harry Kane in an aggressive 3-1-4-2 formation.

The use of such attacking players may well be at odds with the approach of some other nations at the World Cup in Russia but it is a necessary move for England ahead of two games against deep defences in their opening two Group G matches against Tunisia and Panama.
