England’s impressive opening performances at the World Cup won’t mean anything if they can’t get past Colombia in their first knockout clash on Tuesday evening and before the 7pm kickoff, Gareth Southgate is left with some key decisions to make in midfield.
Having rested Dele Alli for England’s last two World Cup outings, the exciting Tottenham star looks set to return to the starting XI against the South Americans – but the question is who should come out of England’s midfield to make room for him.
That’s the exact conundrum we posed to England fans earlier this week, with Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard and Chelsea’s 6 foot 3 starlet Ruben Loftus-Cheek the two candidates to miss out.
And according to our poll, the majority of Three Lions supporters want to see Loftus-Cheek make way for Alli; 66% voted to bench the Chelsea man, while just 16% voted to do the same with Lingard.
